Avalanche and Back Country Awareness Courses

World Adventure Consultants is a member of the Canadian Avalanche Association. We are pleased to offer the following Avalanche Skill Training (AST).

Avalanche Skill Training (AST):

This 16 hour introductory course is a two course split between one day in class and one day in the field. It is suited to any and all recreational backcountry travelers. The AST course is designed to encompass the introductory skills that any recreationalists should have before traveling into the backcountry.

The classroom session will cover these topics:

• Formation and Nature of Avalanches Avalanche Terrain
• Avalanches
• Avalanche Terrain
• Factors Affecting Snow Stability
• Winter Backcountry Travel
• Assessing Avalanche Danger
• Safety Measures and Self Rescue
• Rescue and Transceivers

The field day is an 8 hr. session that encompasses these topics:

• Terrain Recognition
• Route Finding
• Safe Travel
• Group Management
• Stability Recognition
• Hazard Recognition
• Small Party Self Rescue

Course Price:

Avalanche Skill Training (AST):
$140.00 per person.

*Gear Rentals extra

 Gear Rental Costs:

Beacon: $ 20.00/ per day
Probe: $ 10.00/ per day
Shovel: $ 10.00/ per day
Package deal of $35.00 per day when you rent all three.
